Surprise Visitors

On February 11 we responded to an accident with reported vehicle fire on Ocean Gateway. The incident involved a single Jeep vehicle which had run off the road and overturned several times before coming to rest down an embankment and becoming invovled in fire. Good samaratians and passing firefighters quickly extinguished the fire with extinguishers and the occupants were out of the vehicle.

Luckily on minor injuries were sustained by the occupants, however the family pet ran away from the scene. The community came together and started looking for the family dog (RIO) and using social media. After several hours of searching RIO was located and reuintied with the family. 

Rio and his owner Chris who survived this event and the rest of the family came to thank the members of the community and the fire department for everything that was done for them during this trying time.

Its not often those you have assisted in thier time of need come back to say thank you. We as a department appreicate them coming all the way back from Virginia to thank us and are glad they are OK.
